figured id post this while its still fresh in my head…

so my powers gone out and i cant do anything coz i need it to power the computer…i decide ill catch up on some sleep with the alarm beeping at me coz theres no power…

It starts off ive forgotten batteries for my camera flash again so i head into a store and look around…
theres AAs sitting around but theyre all cheap brand AA batteries and the good ones were either in an open packet or leaking acid from the half open packet.  I ask the guy if hes got any spares out the back and he tells me to wait for abit…comes back with bad news and tells me theres nothing back there… i see the half opened packet and ask him if theres any of those ones back there…he goes back there and takes another look…in the mean time i notice some behind a fat pig lookin thing and pull them down.  Its the ones leaking acid.   I wait for abit and he comes back to tell me to go with him…
Tells me to get onto the shopping trolley and we chat…he then throws the trolley down some stairs with me on it…i ask him how long hes been doin the whole retail thing for and he tells me 15yrs.
After being flung down the stairs i meet his father who is setting up a table for some guests.  He mentions everybody has to be equadistant away from the center of the table, it didnt make sense to me seeings tho the table was an oval. Its an extendable table and has a leaver to make the center of the table dip inwards.  This was facinating…  something happens and im out a window flying to the ground at terminal velocity following the guy from earlier…this falling continues for around 30 secs with me dodging obsticles to the ground…
the guy hits the floor and i hit the floor..they ask me to do some weird handstand thing to get into these prison type cells with unlocked chamber doors… this guy looks a mess after hitting the floor… i see him mutate into a different looking guy…  Anyway some guy pushes into the cell i picked and says its his cell and pushes me outside where a massive woolly mammoth type creature just walked by.
Apparently im supposed to not be seen in the mirrors coz we exist on a different dimmension… it was a school and there were kids in classrooms learning.  I was sneaking around in the quadrangle, i look up and see a sillouette of a person… i dont take notice of it and continue trying to make my way out.
I’m spotted multiple times and left to try get myself out.  If youre spotted too many times you get turned to stone and become visible to the other dimmention, though this is only till guys in ur own dimmension can get you back to throw in some magic pool.
I was different, I was spotted numerous times looking for an exit but was never turned to stone, a girl i was with did though.  During the search for an exit, time slowed down and everything started happening in slow motion.  We were taken back to this mysterious pool to be thrown in.  I walk into this shop naked and ask the older guy to help me.  “You can only ever use the pool twice” says the father of the guy i started the journey with.  This was my second time in it and he explains that it leaves some sort of chloroflourecense on the skin which the other dimmension can see…I jump in the pool and get out, the chick is thrown in too…she comes back to life..  Its not working for me… it only partially works and im told to sit barely touching the sun…

something happens and i end up going for a walk with this guy…its 7 in the morning and he asks me if i want to go for a swim
right about now my consiousness and subconsiousness are merging due to the regular intervals of the beeps from the alarm.  I get a phone call via voip and its the girl i was with earlier… shes telling me her power is out too and cant get onto her system.  I drive around and see her doing some crazy handstand thing from earlier that got us into the prison… we have a brief chat then she says her power is on…
i wake up and look at the clock..

falling floor

Ok so i havent recorded anything in a while.
Just got up and on my way to make myself a coffee i remembered the one i just had…. the stupid mutt of a dog nextdoor woke me up which might be the reason why i remember this one.

It goes a little something like this…

I get out of the shower and go stand in the kitchen for a couple minutes staring out over the mountains then all of a sudden i feel a shud and a deathly crunching sound.
I freeze, look around, and it happens again… this continues for a couple minutes till cracks start appearing in the ground.  I run up the stairs to alert the parents, dads sleeping and mums in the shower.
I wake dad up and tell him not to walk on the floor but to look at the damage from the stairwell or his weight might collapse the floor.
I quickly run into the study to cover my printing equipment and run back up stairs.  Mums out of the shower by now and comes down to examine the damage.  Its around 5-6am now and we still wont be able to call anybody in to prop the floor up from the floor below for another couple of hours.
Mum and dad consider the possibilities of knocking the entire house down to rebuild in the background whilst i keep examining the cracks.
I wake up.

weeeeirrrd compilation

Ive been having a few dreams recently but havent been recording, so i thought it was time to start recording again.
Ok so last night it was a weird one, i think it was either 2 dreams or 2 completely different concepts that got merged into 1.  There was something to do with custom kicks.  I wanted to take a small amount of paint off the shoes to put a stripe on them, couldnt figure out how to clean them up so i tried using model glue and left it for a few seconds before wiping it off.  i ended up wiping a huge chunk of the paint off the shoes (coz thats what model glue does..?) then figured what the hell and started cleaning up the whole shoe… i think this ensued for 5 or 10 minutes with buckets of chemicals at the top of the driveway.

Then the next part i remember is something about a puzzle or maze.  Special objects opened doors, and I was playing ice hockey! (that part i just rememebered)  I think the maze doors went into the depths of the stadium with big vault like doors and huge glass blocks preventing entering.  Anyway, somewhere along the line i end up at home stuffing a maccas burger in the fridge, whilst doing that i notice about half a dozin beers in the fridge.

i wake up.

iPhone leather case

So I got my hands on a red leather case from Noreve Australia and might i say its a pretty schmick.
I was affraid the case would destroy all the work apple had done reducing the size of the phone but its still quite decent (Its probably 1.3x the thickness now).  1 of the flaws the iphone had was when holding the phone horizontal playing games your hand would cover up the speaker, but the case rectifies this problem by adding a buffer between your hand and the speaker allowing you to hear it in its full glory.
All buttons are still easily accesible with the case on and i can also dock it to my xtrememac luna clock radio without taking the case off. (happy times)
Its quite nice feeling leather with a magnetic clip to hold the phone in the case which adds abit of class to it. I’m quite confident in dropping the phone now with the case on, no more worrying about shattered screens.

So i had a dream last night that i was going bald …like old persons hair bald, though it was just the top balding.  I didnt remember this till a few minutes ago when chatting to a friend on msn…

man…what a shit dream.

iPhone 3g… plan analysis eh?

After reading a whole bunch of reviews about Optus not having any iPhone stock and about the poor reception due to the chip used within the iPhone, and the sluggishness of the newer model, ive weighed up my options and decided to bite the bullet.

The new HTC Diamond or Blackberry Bold  (especially the weather feature on the Diamond…check it out, id get the phone just for this!) look awesome but at the end of the day will cost too much for my little budget.

I analysed the plans and its no surprise that Optus did come out with the best plans with Virgin coming into the game late giving the best data for money value wise ….could this have been Virgin’s strategy to see what plans everybody else was offering before joining the game?  Possibly…

Regardless, ive chosen to go with Optus instead of Virgin due to my limited budget and me being a tightass… Virgins smallest plan is $74 or so…
I compared the capped plans with the normal plans and looking at the call rates…
on $49 cap its 40c/30 sec + 35c flagfall + 25c/sms with 250mb ….
You get $300 worth of calls but the call rate is basically twice as expensive.

Now on the $39 plan with “Yes text and talk” its 18c/30sec + 25c flagfall + 22c/sms with 500mb…
$34 of included calls.  For my own personal usage this suits me fine….
Looking at the flagfall, you are essentially paying an additional 10c before you have even made the call

Now calculations show that on the capped plan a 2min call will cost $1.95
where as on the standard plan it will cost $0.97

With my $39 plan, if i was to spend $49 as per the cap, i could make 50 2min calls as opposed to the the cap plan with 153 2min calls

The question is, is 250meg of data worth 100 2min calls….  with most my talking is usually done on msn, the answer is probably yes.

The phone costs the same on both plans and i can also make plan shorter on the noncapped plan:
spend $10 more per month – Reduces plan to 21 months
$30 more per month – Reduces plan to 18 months
$60 more per month – Reduces plan to 15 months

sooo at the end of the day ill probably be getting iPhone 16gb for $51/mth or 8gb for $46/mth for 24 mths granted i keep within the budget set… if i go over, no biggie it’ll just make the plan shorter

Eclipse?

Ok, just after seeing a digg article on “Total Solar Eclipse on August 1: Where, How to See It” it made me remember a recent dream i had completely forgotten about, it might have been had this morning.

Its all rather fragmented in my mind at the moment but it consisted of the moon colliding with the sun somehow and me not being able to find my camera to capture the moment. I remember something about batteries in there too …I vaguely remember seeing both the moon and the sun in the sky at the same time, it seemed like the moon got next to the sun somehow then got dragged in by the gravity…

That is all… it was a strange dream….

Pentax Optio w60 camera review

Ok, so I’m probably one of the first in Aus to have this camera I thought id throw a review up based on my experience with the Pentax w30 which i lost in the snow last year….along with my ipod mini a year before that… these snow trips are expensive…

So I’ve waited a year and gotten the Pentax w60, played with it for a couple hours and first impressions were kind of poor.

Pulling the camera out of the box I felt kinda ripped off. The product photos used for the camera are some what misleading as the exterior of the camera does feel extremely plasticy and flimsy, nothing like the near indestructible Olympus 720SW. I’m assuming its to prevent rusting of the camera after taking it into salt water and forgetting to rinse it or for weight saving purposes to make it more portable. (and it is quite light)

After charging up the battery and sticking it in, the features and navigation are similar to what i remember of the w30 with a few minor differences and additional features. First test was high iso. It goes up to 3200 but i would not use this…. ever, unless you like painterly looking photos. I’m not sure what i was expecting the quality to be like but its horrendous (this is based on my experience with the canon 300d, 350d, 20d and 30d cameras, though these are digi slrs and should not be put in the same boat as point n shoots). 1600, I wouldnt touch either… 800 is bearable but for decent quality photos you would go with iso 400 and below, that being said the camera does perform quite well in lowlight situations.

One problem the w30 had was trying to focus in low light situations, it would take an eternity to get a focus lock on the subject indoors with incandescent lighting, this problem seems to have been solved with the new W60, after a few shots in low light situations the focus on the photos were near perfect.

The onboard effects the camera can produce are fun and can be used by people who do not have photoshop
, this kept me amused for a good 5 minutes before moving on.

The video recording is quite good for a little point and shoot, after trying to figure out what it was doing I noticed the focus was not adjusting to the zoom function. Focus on an item 2 meters away and start recording and it will not auto focus when zooming into an object 20 meters away. After scrolling through the menu for abit i discovered the auto focus while zooming option was not selected, thinking this was rather odd as it should be on as default. I turn it on and discover why its an option left unselected as default. Auto focus while video recording and zooming creates an annoying clicking noise heard throughout the whole clip while its trying to refocus on new subjects, it would be nice if they could fix this but its just a little point n shoot so i wouldnt hold your breath.

Oh, it also does time lapse videos …ie. 1 frame a minute for 2hrs….thats kinda cool.

I’ll just take their word that the camera is waterproof and take it to the snow again in 10 days to see how it performs.

Overall, it seems like a better camera than the w30 purely for the features, its about the size of a nokia mobile phone so its its good to stick in ur pocket while ur out, just dont sit on it, the build quality would be on par with the old w30 but not an indestructible camera as i had wished.

I might post sample pics and video abit later. I’m not an editor or a camera reviewer nor is this website one, but thought i would share my thoughts with the world.

so ive been playing this game so much its invaded my dreams…a couple nights ago i dreamt that i was in a modified version of the game… i ended up having some sort of sword fight with some demon guy…it was pretty random …anyway…i better stop playing so much.

bloody trojans

I only remembered 1 section of last nights dream.  I got up from my slumber and made my way to the computer to find the cursor moving around by itself on the screen.  The desktop looked different and i immediately suspected somebody had made their way across the internets into my computer using a trojan.  I grabbed the mouse to wrestle control of the cursor but to no avail.  It is then a voice on the other end came through the speakers saying “that will teach you..muhahahahhaha”
I tried to turn the computer off from the power button but it wasnt working, so I proceeded to bash the computer, then i figured I’d yank the power out from the back.  It was only after i done this i figured I could have pulled the network cable out.
Upon loading the computer back up I started poking around to see the extent of the damage that was caused whilst i was sleeping, and it was bad.  Real bad.  They had essentially formated my entire harddrive losing all my work, music, movies and files.  Everything was gone and as soon as it dawned on me i went into a rage with my father trying to calm me down….
Not too sure what happened after that, but i think i might go back up all my work now.
